D'var Torah: "A man went from the house of Levi and took a daughter of Levi" (Shemot 2:1). Pharaoh decreed that every Jewish boy that is born be cast into the Nile River. In response, Amram separated from his wife to avoid the inevitable infanticide. In response, Amram's daughter said to her father, "Pharaoh only decreed against the boys. Your decree is worse for you decreed also against the girls." Miriam's bold words hit their mark. Amram realised that trust in HaShem always supersedes the "facts on the ground" as seen by the human intellect. Amram reunited with his wife, Yocheved. As a result, Moshe Rabenu -- the redeemer of Israel -- was born.
Moral:The place where our intellect comes to an end is where trust and faith in HaShem begin.
Application: Chant the verse, "Trust in HaShem withl all of your heart and do not rely upon your intellect" (Mishlei 3:5). No matter how hopeless the situation seems to be, never give up hope in HaShem. Disconnect from your intellect, which cannot see any solution. Trust and pray to HaShem to show you mercy, and rejoice in HaShem's deliverance.
