SF - The Training of King David \ Sefer Hareidim

King David defeated Goliath, the Palishtim, and countless enemies. He conquered Syria and had the power to overcome the entire world.

We assume that King David, who was an incomparable warrior, was trained in warfare.

We imagine that he had muscles, that he was a skilled soldier, and that he knew military strategies.

In truth, the Sefer Haredim tells us that King David was untrained in conventional warfare!

He was not a skilled soldier, nor did he know military strategies.

King David trained in trusting in HaShem.

King David was the consummate master of faith in HaShem!

When he and his men faced a fierce battle, Hashem told him, "Do not attack until the leaves rustle in the wind."

The enemy came closer and closer, and his men asked him, "Can we attack them?"

King David said, "No! Not until the leaves rustle in the wind."

The enemy continued to advance. King David put his faith entirely in HaShem.

Suddenly the leaves rustled in the wind.

"Now!"

He wiped out his enemies because he trusted in HaShem, and not in his military prowess.

Put your trust and faith in HaShem, and He will deliver you from all of your troubles and grant you every success!
