"And HaShem called unto Moshe" (Vayikra 1:1). The Hebrew word Vayikra -- "called" -- expresses affection and warmth. In this light, HaShem called lovingly to Moshe. We find that the angels also address themselves to each other in love, "And one angel called to the other angel." Not only do the angels speak affectionately to each other, even more, they empower each other! A greater angel calls to a lesser angel, intending to increase the power of the lesser angel, so that the lesser angel can sanctify and praise HaShem with new dimensions of holiness. In the same way, not only did HaShem call lovingly to Moshe, even more, HaShem enriched Moshe's capacity to receive additional dimensions of blessings, prophecy, and holiness.
HaShem knows that man has unlimited capacity to receive and expand his spiritual powers. HaShem addresses Moshe Rabenu, and Klal Yisrael, with words of warmth and love. In this way, HaShem elevates us to new levels of holiness and purity.
Reflect on the love and encouragement that HaShem expressed to Moshe Rabenu, and in turn, all Klal Yisrael. Internalize HaShem's expression of love and encouragement to you. Be inspired, knowing that you have unlimited capacity to receive and expand your holiness, purity, Torah wisdom, and service to HaShem. (Based on the commentary of the Chasom Sofer) |
