SF - Irrepressible TRUST in HASHEM

The Torah tells us that the spies delivered a negative report about Eretz Yisrael. They prefaced their statement with positive words, "We arrived at the Land and indeed it flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit." Then they said, "But the people that dwell in the Land are powerful, the cities are greatly fortified, and we also saw the offspring of the giant."

Although they started with a favorable description of the Land, they subsequently conveyed the enormous challenge of conquering the powerful nations that inhabited the Land.

Yet, we might respond that they were not at fault because they accurately reported the truth. After all, they realistically described both the good points and the bad points.

Yehoshua and Calev saw the same things that the other spies saw. However, they saw it through the lens of steadfast trust in HaShem. Therefore, they said, "The Land that we passed through is very, very good. If HaShem desires us, He will bring us to this Land and give it to us, a Land that flows with milk and honey."

In general, every one sees the same things and collects the same data. The difference lies in how we process the information. Whether we emphasize the good or bad reflects our life's perspective.

Yehoshua and Calev had supreme confidence in HaShem's assurance that Eretz Yisrael was a precious - and attainable - gift. Therefore, their view of the Land was colored with optimism, faith, and enthusiasm.

May we view all of life through the lens of unwavering trust in HaShem's love, compassion, and kindness. In turn, HaShem will bless us with joy, success, and fulfillment.

TODAY: Focus on the good that you receive and fill your heart with gratitude and love of HaShem.

May the souls who left this world be remembered for a blessing.

SF - The Positive Thoughts of HaShem

As a result of Klal Yisrael's involvement with the golden calf, they lost the merit to inherit Eretz Yisrael. Even so, HaShem, in His infinite compassion, created an opportunity for them to rectify their sin. He charged them with the Mitzvah to send the spies to Eretz Yisrael. If they would bring a positive report, reflecting their trust in HaShem, they would regain the merit to inherit Eretz Yisrael. Unfortunately, they totally misinterpreted HaShem's good intentions. They assumed that He was sending Klal Yisrael to destruction in Eretz Yisrael as a punishment for their culpability of the golden calf. Therefore, they gave a negative report about Eretz Yisrael which resulted in a desecration of HaShem and a lost opportunity.

Regardless of any mistake or misdeed that we make, there is never reason for despair. HaShem, in His great mercy, creates endless opportunities for us to rectify our sins, and will always accept our repentance.

Envision Moshe Rabenu praying for Klal Yisrael after they fell to the sin of the golden calf. See how he persists in pleading with HaShem to reveal new dimension of compassion and forgive Kall Yisrael. Overcome all thoughts of self-doubt with the absolute trust in HaShem's infinite compassion. Strengthen your faith that HaShem accepts, forgives, and loves everyone who returns to Him.

SF - Hope in Hashem!

"I hope for HaShem, my soul hopes; and for His word, I wait" (Psalms 130:5). The Torah prophetically reveals that ultimately HaShem will reveal His glory and the splendor of His great majesty. In light of this, the verse says, "I hope for HaShem, my soul hopes." Meaning, those who steadfastly trust in HaShem, will merit to see the wondrous revelation of HaShem. In addition, "for His word, I wait," meaning, they wait for the final redemption. This event is expressed by the verse, "Even if your exiles are at the end of the heavens, HaShem your G-d, will gather you from there, and He will take you from there. And HaShem your G-d will bring you to the land that your forefathers possessed, and you will take possession of it, and He will do good to you, and He will make you more numerous that your forefathers" (Deuteronomy 30:4).

Our collective hope in HaShem and our longing for redemption, despite our prolonged exile, is the merit that will bring the final redemption.

Reflect on the emergence of our homeland in Israel after 2000 years of exile. Thank HaShem for witnessing this unprecedented miracle. Be encouraged by knowing that our irrepressible faith over the centuries has given birth to the great miracle of the reestablishment of the Jewish People in Eretz Yisrael. Strengthen your hope and faith in HaShem, and merit to see the revelation of HaShem and the final redemption.
