The Perceptive Power of Prayer When Yitzchak Avinu prayed for his wife, Rivka, to have a child, surprisingly,"he prayed with the joy of a wealthy man who had every blessing." Yet, since Rivka was childless for twenty years, surely they endured much sadness and distress. If so, why did Yitzchak feel so happy and blessed when he prayed? Lesson: Prayer opens the eyes of our mind to see the great kindness of HaShem that unceasingly flows into our lives. The more Yitzchak prayed for a child, the more he recognized the infinite kindness of HaShem, and attained intense gratitude for the gift of life. His heartfelt prayers inspired him to recognize HaShem's boundless goodness that flowed upon all of His creations.
App: Before you pray reflect for a moment that prayer holds the power to reveal the wondrous kindness of HaShem, your Creator and merciful Father. Increase your awareness, joy, and love of HaShem with each additional moment of prayer. [Based on the commentary of Ohr RaShaz to the Torah]
