The Joy of Unbounded Love \ Parashat Acharei Meit Kadoshim
D'var Torah: "Love your friend like you love yourself." (Vayikra 19:18) The verse expresses the wonderful ideal to love others with the same love that we love ourselves. The Torah inspires us to go beyond human nature by expanding our love, sensitivity, and care for our fellow man. When we share our wisdom, friendship, and material possessions with others, we are following the holy way of loving kindness. Even more, our love for our friends is so strong that we wish for them the same fullness of happiness, that we desire for ourselves. Moral: There are no boundaries in love. Just as we want the very best for ourselves, the Torah urges us to want the very best for our friends. Application: Envision Avraham Avinu showering his love and kindness upon his fellow man. See how he loves each person as his brother. Sense his joyous love for all of mankind. Be inspired to open your heart to love others just as you love yourself.
