SF - HaShem Answered My Prayer \ King David

HaShem Answered My Prayer

“With my voice I call out to HaShem, and He answered me, from His holy mountain” (Tehillim 3:5).

King David expressed these words when his son, Avshalom, made a play to usurp his throne. As King David fled in order to avoid conflict with his son the people cried and King David remained tranquil. Why did King David remain calm in such trying circumstances?
King David, the consummate master of trust in HaShem, believed that HaShem would answer his prayers as soon as the words left his lips. Therefore he exclaimed, “With my voice I call out to HaShem, and He answered me.” He expressed himself in the past tense, “He answered me.” Even before HaShem delivered him, he was confident that HaShem would answer his prayers! Despite all the threatening challenges, King David viewed the situation with the tranquility as if HaShem had already brought him salvation.

King David also expressed in Tehillim (118:15), “The voice of joyous song and deliverance is in the tent of the righteous.” Why does the verse write, “The voice of joyous song” before the “deliverance”? King David was so fully confident that HaShem would answer his prayers and rescue him from his dire straits, that he rejoiced as soon as he expressed his prayer to HaShem.

Envision King David fleeing as Avshalom makes a move for the throne. King David cries out to HaShem, “With my voice I call out to HaShem.” Just as soon as he utters his heartfelt prayers, his spirit finds calmness and serenity. He knows that HaShem will compassionately answer his prayers and deliver him from his predicament.

May we strengthen our faith in HaShem that He will answer our prayers. Then, as soon as we pray we will have the confidence that HaShem will rescue us from every trouble.
