SF - # The Royal Torah: Sanctifying Leadership with Holiness and Humility

“When the king sits upon his royal throne, he shall write for himself two copies of the Torah… and it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear Hashem…” (Devarim 17:18–19).

The king of Israel reflects Malchut, the Divine Kingship, while the Torah embodies Tiferet, the Divine Glory. Just as the moon shines by receiving light from the sun, so too Malchut draws its radiance from Tiferet. When the king of Israel holds the Torah, he unites Malchut with Tiferet, allowing the brilliance of Tiferet to illuminate Malchut.

Through Torah study, the king’s holiness rests upon him, strengthening his influence both in Heaven and on earth. Moreover, the sanctity of the king tempers the natural inclination of a ruler to feel superior to his subjects, instilling humility and service.

Torah study is a profound remedy, sustaining the spiritual realms above while sanctifying the People of Israel below.

Today: Picture King David seated upon his royal throne, holding the Torah close. See the Torah’s light radiating, strengthening the Kingdom of HaShem and sanctifying the king with divine holiness. Let this vision inspire you: deepen your Torah study, and fill your soul with holiness, humility, and radiant light.

(Based on the commentary of Rav Moshe Dovid Valli to the Chumash)
