The Fundamental Question

Why does the Torah suggest that a core purpose of Torah observance is to be "wise in the eyes of the nations"? Isn't the primary goal of our observance simply to fulfill HaShem's Will?

Worldly Wisdom as a Sacred Prerequisite

To truly fulfill the Torah, a person cannot remain insulated from practical reality; one must attain mastery over both spiritual and worldly matters.
