The Rescue A man was lost in the forest on a hot summer day. Just as he was about to faint, he found a cabin. He knocked on the door but no one answered. He forced the door open and found a pitcher of cool water on the counter. There was a note next to the pitcher which said: "You are welcome to drink as much water as you like, on one condition. You must wash the cup after you finish drinking." The man was overwhelmed with gratitude to the owner of the cabin. He drank the life-saving water and was resuscitated. Afterwards, with a great sense thankfulness, he dutifully washed out the cup.
Lesson: The parable sheds light on how HaShem comes to our "rescue" every second of our existence. Although our life seems "natural," it is our merciful Creator, Who continuously provides all of our most vital needs! Fulfilling HaShem's Mitzvot shows our appreciation for His unabated love.
Visualization: Envision the man in the story drinking the water and sense his joy as his life is revived. Reflect that HaShem surrounds you with kindness and grants you life every second. Be inspired to show your thankfulness to HaShem by observing His Mitzvot to the best of your ability.
