SF - A Practical Tikun for Tisha B"Av 5778

A Practical Tikun for Tisha B"Av 5778 \ SF Global Initiative

We invite you to participate in our global Tisha B"Av Tikun. The initiative envisions Klal Yisrael together reflecting on Ahavat Yisrael at the same time, on Tisha B"Av. The program includes 3 steps:

(Step 1) A short text to be read on Tisha B"Av.
(Step 2) A dedicated time to read and reflect on the text.
(Step 3) A short guided imagery visualization.  The three steps follow below.

(Step 1) Text:

During the Second Temple period, the people learned Torah, fulfilled the Mitzvot, and performed good deeds. If so, (if they were so righteous) why was the Temple destroyed? Because of the Sinat Chinom -- the baseless hatred at that time. (Yoma 9)

Rabbi Akiva said, 'Love your neighbor like yourself.' This is the great principle of the Torah.

Print the text to read on Tisha "B"Av

(Step 2) Read the text on Tisha B"Av night, preferably after Ma'ariv and the reading of Eichah. Reflect on the meaning of the text. Instill love in your heart for every person, and for all mankind.

(Step 3)  Visualization: Envision Klal Yisrael having love and unity amongst themselves during the period of the Temple. Envision Klal Yisrael restoring love and unity for each other. See the Temple rebuilt, and the Shechinah return to dwell amongst us forever.
