SF - The Healing Power of HOPE \ Parashat Bereisheit

The Healing Power of HOPE \ Parashat Bereisheit

D'var Torah:  "In the beginning Elokim created the heaven and the earth". The Zohar interprets the verse as follows, "With - HOPE - Elokim created the heaven and the earth." Meaning, HaShem created the world in a way that mankind must HOPE in HaShem for their needs, happiness, and redemption. A person who HOPES in HaShem is always happy. Whereas a person who does not HOPE in HaShem is in a state of distress because he assumes there is no healing for his troubles. Indeed, the person who HOPES in HaShem is never distressed because he always HOPES for HaShem's deliverance. Even if his wait is prolonged, his constant HOPE in HaShem always revitalizes Him with life and confidence.

Moral: When we HOPE in HaShem for our needs, we connect ourselves to the Source of Good. The blessings of HaShem flow into our lives, providing abundance for us in this world as well as the eternal World to Come.

Application: Reflect on the verse from King David's Psalms, "I have HOPED continually for HaShem, and He inclined His ear to me and heard my cry" (Tehillim 40:2). Envision King David and the joy of his continual HOPE for HaShem's help and healing. Strengthen your HOPE in HaShem and fill your soul with joy and your life with the unabated blessings of HaShem.
