Three Moral Guideposts to a Harmonious World \ Pirkei Avot 1:18 D'var Torah: "Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel said, 'The world stands on three ideals: on justice, truth, and peace.'" In an enlightening revelation of wisdom, the Torah defines the three integral components that form the foundation of a healthy family, society, and world. "Justice" is rendered by wise and moral courts, "truth" is found when people are honest and do not lie to each other, and "peace" prevails when it exists both between nations as well as in interpersonal relationships. Moral: The commitment to treat each other with moral clarity, integrity, and peace are the building blocks of creating a harmonious world that is morally sound and safe. Application: Make every effort to treat all people fairly and compassionately; always speak truthfully; and strive to be at peace with every person and in every situation . (Based on the commentary of the Bartenurah to Pirkei Avos 1:18) The Salant Foundation is currently looking for a Shul or community to partner with us in sharing the merit of the unique and important Salant Kollel. There are practical and easy ways (such as adoptakollel.org) to create a special mutual relationship between the Kollel and a Shul or community. If you think your shul or community or even workplace might want to participate in supporting the Salant Kollel, please contact Rabbi Zvi Miller at salantorg@gmail.com, and we'll discuss how to go about implementing your idea. Thank you. |
