Immediate Redemption \ Tehillim
“A Song of Ascents. In my great distress I called to HaShem and He answered me” (Tehillim 120:1).
The word for “distress” (צרתה) includes a ״,ת״ the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The ״ת״ implies a “great distress.”It is literally, as if the Torah is conveying that something extremely negative occurred.
When we are in dire straits, we must hope that HaShem will hear our prayers and immediately redeem us from our hardship. Granted on some occasions, HaShem does not immediately accept the request. For instance, many decades passed until HaShem answered Sarah’s Emeinu’s heartfelt prayers, and miraculously granted her a son, in her elderly years. However, this is the exception and not the rule.
King David reveals that when we are in a “tough spot,” it is an opportune time to cry out to HaShem. He will immediately answer our supplications! When the Jewish soul calls out to HaShem in time of trouble, He shows us great compassion and answer us immediately.
For example, when Klal Yisrael arrived at the Red Sea, they were in terrible danger. The sea was in front of them and the Egyptians were attacking from the rear. They had no place to flee. They cried out to HaShem for His deliverance, and their prayers pierced the Heavens. He immediately miraculously split the Red Sea. HaShem brought them across the dry land, and drowned the Egyptians who followed after them into the dry seabed.
In light of this, King David expressed, “In my distress I called to HaShem and He answered me.” King David offered heartfelt thanksgiving to HaShem, for the wonderful miracles that he performed for Him, on so many occasions.
When we find ourselves in deep trouble, never despair! Have faith that HaShem will hear our cries and bring us immediate redemption!
