SF - Seeing Through the Eyes of Faith

The Torah tells us that the spies delivered a negative report about Eretz Yisrael. Interestingly, they began with praise: “We arrived at the Land, and indeed it flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.” But then came the turning point: “However, the people who dwell in the Land are powerful, the cities are greatly fortified, and we also saw the offspring of the giant.”

Although they started with a favorable description, they soon emphasized the formidable obstacles—strong nations and fortified cities—that stood in the way of conquest.

At first glance, it might seem they did nothing wrong. Weren’t they simply reporting the truth—presenting both the positives and the challenges?

Yet Yehoshua and Calev saw the same facts through a different lens: one of unwavering trust in HaShem. They declared, “The Land that we passed through is exceedingly good. If HaShem desires us, He will bring us into this Land and give it to us—a Land flowing with milk and honey.”

The difference lay not in what they saw, but in how they interpreted it. All twelve spies observed the same realities. But while most allowed fear to cloud their vision, Yehoshua and Calev viewed the situation with clarity born of faith.

In life, we all gather the same data. The difference lies in what we choose to highlight—whether we focus on the challenges or the opportunities, the flaws or the blessings. Our perspective shapes our reality.

Yehoshua and Calev were anchored in HaShem’s promise. They saw Eretz Yisrael not as an impossible dream, but as a Divine gift within reach. Their hearts were filled with optimism, trust, and gratitude.

May we learn to view our lives through that same lens of faith—seeing the good, trusting in HaShem’s love, and embracing every moment with gratitude.

TODAY: Focus on the good in your life. Let your heart overflow with thanks and love for HaShem.

May the souls who left this world be remembered for a blessing.
