SF - # Never Alone

In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Avraham Litzman:

With heartfelt gratitude, we wish you and your family bracha, hatzlacha, and abundant nachas!

“And Yaacov lived in the land of Egypt for seventeen years” (Bereishis 47:28).

A devastating famine forced Yaacov Avinu to leave Eretz Yisrael and descend to Egypt. Yet Yaacov’s greatest fear was not physical survival, but spiritual danger. He worried that the impurity of Egypt would contaminate the holy souls of his family, weakening their spiritual vitality and leaving them unable to ever rise above their surroundings.

To allay this fear, HaShem promised him, “I will descend with you to Egypt, and I will surely bring you up.” The Divine Presence—the Shechinah—would accompany Yaacov and his family into exile. Empowered by the Shechinah, the seventy souls of Yaacov’s household would retain their holiness and emerge from Egypt whole and intact. More than that, those seventy souls possessed the inner strength to sanctify the seventy nations of the world.

This promise did not end in Egypt. The Shechinah continues to fortify Klal Yisrael, the descendants of those seventy souls, granting us the spiritual resilience to remain balanced and faithful in every environment. Beyond survival, we are entrusted with a greater mission—to illuminate humanity with the light of HaShem.

Today: Envision the seventy souls of Yaacov’s family, surrounded and sustained by the Shechinah. That same Divine Presence rests upon us today, infusing us with strength, purpose, and blessing. Sense that power within your own soul, and live with the awareness that you are meant to be a light unto the nations.
