Upon the birth of Moshe Rabbeinu, the Torah records that his mother saw "that he was good," (Shemos 2:2) and she hid him for three months. Our Sages explain that "good" refers to a miraculous illumination; when Moshe was born, a holy light filled the entire house. His family hid him not only to protect his life but to shield this Divine radiance from Egyptian eyes. They understood that this child was the long-awaited Redeemer, destined to lead Klal Yisrael out of the darkness of Egypt and into the light of freedom. Holiness requires a "fence." The more precious and sacred an entity is, the more carefully it must be guarded. Today: HaShem has entrusted you with a Neshamah (soul) that is infinitely pure and radiant. Just as Moshe’s family shielded his light from the harshness of Egypt, we must protect our spiritual integrity from influences that threaten to dim our inner glow.
