A Time for Compassion
"If you encounter the ox or donkey of your fellow, surely return it to him." (Shemos 23:4) If the Torah has so much grace on your friends property, how much more so should we have mercy to our fellow Jews who have strayed from the path of Torah.
Lesson: A Jew who has strayed from the path of Torah, is like a lost sheep. Just as we are required to make a great effort to restore our friends ox, we need to make a great effort to wisely guide him back to the fold.
App: A lost sheep cannot find his way back to the herd without help. So too, show mercy to people who are lost from the path of Torah, and patiently show them the way back to life.
