Moshe Rabenu named his first son, Gershom, intimating, "I was a stranger in a foreign land." Moshe was concerned that he would be influenced by the impure forces surrounding him in Midian. Therefore, he felt it was necessary to have a constant reminder that his true purpose is holiness and being close to HaShem.
Lesson: If Moshe Rabenu was concerned about the enticements of the negative impulse, how much more so, is it important for us to realize the jeopardy of the negative impulse and keep him at bay.
App: Counter the yetzer hora's enticements by telling him: "My soul has traveled thousands of miles to come to earth and fulfill the Torah and to perform good deeds. Don't try to distract me with your foolishness. I am focused on staying close to the holiness of HaShem and earning a share in the eternal World to Come."
