A Tribute to Rabbi Yisrael Salanter
The Yahrzeit of Rabbi Yisrael Salanter takes places on 25th of Shevat, this coming Shabbos.
Rabbi Salanter (1810-1883) dedicated his life to uplift, enlighten, and encourage Klal Yisrael. He brilliantly articulated through his profound teachings as well as his inspiring personal example, that the purpose of our existence is to attain goodness. He formulated and established a Jewish personal development method which serves as the key to grasp the very foundation and essence of Torah.
Lesson: Amongst his many wise sayings he said, "It is forbidden to think about another person, unless your are thinking how to help him."
App: Elevate yourself and increase your personal happiness, by avoiding negative thoughts about other people. Think of ways how to help your friends and loved ones. Surely our new mode of thinking will foster much goodness and bring the Ge'ulah.
