Spiritual Courage When the spies returned from Eretz Yisrael, they set off pandemonium by saying "this is land that destroys it's inhabitants." They were concerned that since Eretz Yisrael is so holy, they would not be able to elevate themselves to the appropriate level of purity. Calev countered their false claim by asserting, "HaShem raises up all those who fall." Meaning, since HaShem promised us the Land of Israel, He will surely help us reach the holiness needed to conquer and thrive there. Lesson: Steadfast trust in HaShem inspires us with the courage to elevate ourselves and grow to new spiritual levels. We will succeed despite the challenges because, "HaShem raises up all those who fall." Application: Envision Moshe Rabenu climbing Mount Sinai to receive the Torah from HaShem. Despite the awesome experience of entering HaShem's Presence, Moshe steadily ascends the mountain and receives the Torah. See his countenance shining with holiness and joy. Transpose Moshe's courage to your heart and ascend the mountain to HaShem. (Based on the commentary of the Ramchal) Click Here to view the Salant Mussar Library Collection |
