We pray in the Shemoneh Esrei prayer: "Blessed are You HaShem, the Support and Trust of the righteous." Reliance on HaShem for His "Support" is a lesser level of faith than one who "Trusts" totally in HaShem. Yet, the path to attain trust in HaShem is built of incremental steps, like a mountain-climber ascending from ridge to ridge, until he reaches the peak. So too, with each day we "rely" a little more on HaShem, until we stand secure on the mighty mountain of "trust." HaShem doesn't expect us to start out with the perfect trust of King David. The secret of attaining trust in HaShem is a steady climb, advancing one step at a time. Use each challenge as a means to strengthen your muscles of trust. SF - Consider the Impact of Your Actions and Make a Kiddush Hashem

HaShem instructed Moshe to "take revenge" against Midian for the evil they dealt to Klal Yisrael. The Midianites tricked and trapped Klal Yisrael to fall into immorality and idol worship. In his great wisdom, Moshe decided to appoint Pinchas to lead the troops, rather than take an active role in the battle, . He reasoned that his successor, Yehoshuah, would fight thirty-one battles. However, if Moshe fought this battle, it would have been his only one. Since he was the Father of all the Prophets, his one victory, in contrast to the many victories of Yehoshuah, would be construed as slight to him and the honor of Torah. Rather than just looking at the here and now, Moshe's decisions and judgements considered the far-reaching ramifications of each action.  Acquire a global, long-range view of your actions. Consider how it will affect and impact others now and in the future. This contemplation will give you insight into making a Kiddush HaShem! SF - The Secret Weapon of Klal Yisrael

Today the 23 of Tamuz, is the Yarzeit of Rav Moshe ben Rav Yaacov, Cordevoreo -- HaRamak, May His Neshema be elevated in Gan Eden! What is the "secret weapon" of Klal Yisrael? It is not tanks and bombs, or anything to do with conventional warfare. Instead the secret weapon is a "spiritual weapon." When Klal Yisrael waged war against Midian, Balaam used black magic to enable himself as well as the Midianite kings to fly in the air.
