"I give him my covenant of peace" (Bamidbar 25:12).
After Pinchas stopped the plague by putting Zimri and Cozbi (who consorted) to death, HaShem said, "I give him my covenant of peace." HaShem told Pinchas, "You made peace between Klal Yisrael and their Heavenly Father, and you saved the lives of all Klal Yisrael. Therefore, I give you a gift, 'My covenant of peace,' to have a life of peace."
Man's soul continuously wants to escape the body and return to its pure source, the Holy Shechinah. Nevertheless, HaShem gave Pinchas His "covenant of peace," peace between his body and soul! Meaning, his body was sanctified and transformed into a fitting vessel for his holy soul.
Subsequently, when Yehoshuah bin Nun sent Pinchas to Jericho, we see the manifestation of HaShem's blessing. The two spies, Pinchas and Calev, went to Rechav's home to set up their base. However, the guards sighted them and informed the king that spies had infiltrated the city. The king sent soldiers to Rachav's house to arrest the spies.
She took the spies to the roof, "The woman took the two men and hid him." The verse does not say "she hid them" because one of the spies was Pinchas. He was a purely spiritual being. Therefore, he was invisible to the king's men.
Pinchas became Eliyahu, who ascended to Heaven in a whirlwind of fire. Ultimately, his material body was so refined that abundant "peace" prevailed between his soul and body. In light of this, HaShem blessed Pinchas with "Peace," because the essence of true life is the peace between the soul and body. (Based on the commentary of the Alshich HaKodesh)
