Love of the Ancient Days
The crowning glory of HaShem's infinite compassion is called "From Ancient Days." In the event that Klal Yisrael would be devoid of all merit, HaShem finds a way to awaken His compassion. He looks back over the centuries until He finds the most worthy generation of ancient days. For example, He remembers the generation of the Yetziyas Mitzrayim that faithfully followed Him into the blazing desert. HaShem remembers the unbounded love He had for that generation and extends it to the lesser generation.
Lesson: There is never a reason to despair from receiving Hashem's infinite compassion. No matter how far we have strayed from HaShem, He will renew His mercy and love for us on the merit of our holy ancestors.
App: If you encounter a person that you feel has no redeeming qualities, emulate HaShem by remembering the person was once a pure and innocent baby. Then, help him, pray for him, and feel compassion for him.
