The Holiness of Man
"From my own being, I will see HaShem." (Job 19:26)
HaShem created man on the sixth day of creation. Man is unique amongst the creations because "HaShem created man in His Image." HaShem endowed man with the precious attributes of love, kindness, and intelligence. These virtues are like spiritual diamonds that imbue man's personality with the very radiance of HaShem. What's more, these good traits serve a double purpose. Not only do these traits elevate man's thoughts and conduct, they also give us a way to enrich our understanding of HaShem. These holy traits within our souls give us a glimpse of the infinite goodness of HaShem. The more we reflect upon our good character traits, the more we recognize the holiness of HaShem.
Lesson: HaShem created man with good character traits with the intention that he emulate HaShem and fill the world with kindness and compassion. In addition, through observing himself he is able to fathom the wondrous dimensions of HaShem's kindness and compassion.
Visualization: Envision the beautiful kindness, good deeds, and sweetness of Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaacov. See how their holy character traits encourages others to follow their ways. Look within your heart and find clusters of goodness, mercy, and kindness. Be inspired by your inherent goodness to know, revere, and love HaShem. (Based on the commentary of Rav Matisiyahu Salomon to Tomer Devorah)
