King David said, "One thing I ask of you...to dwell in the house of HaShem all the days of my life." Most people want different things at different stages of their life. A small child enjoys a simple toy, an older child wants a bike. A young man marries and builds a family. Soon after he wants a house and then looks to make his fortune. King David had none of these variations. Indeed, from his earliest years till the end of his life, King David had one singular goal -- "to dwell in the house of HaShem all the days of my life."
Lesson: Crystalize your goals and realize that coming close to HaShem is the only worthwhile pursuit, as well as the ultimate pleasure.
Visualization: Envision King David awakening at midnight and singing praises to HaShem. See how King David seeks to be in HaShem's presence each moment of his life. Every day he enriches his knowledge of HaShem, and as a result the joy of his soul continuously increases.
