SF - The Joy of Kindness

The Joy of Kindness

When Avraham was recovering from his circumcision, HaShem made a very hot day so that Avraham would not have to attend to guests. However, Avraham was more troubled by the fact that there was no opportunity to perform kindness, than the the pain of the incision. Therefore, HaShem sent three guests, so that Avraham could enjoy his favorite activity -- serving other people. When he saw the travelers, he ran to greet them. A ninety-nine year old man, with a painful wound, loved kindness so much, that he ran to greet his guests.

Lesson: Avraham's raison d'être was kindness.  When he performed kindness his entire being came alive, pulsating with joy and goodness
Visualization: Envision Avraham Avinu's heart fill with joy upon seeing the three travelers and the opportunity to perform kindness. See him run towards his guests, bow to hem, and welcome that with a smiling face. Hear him say, "Sir, if I have found favor in your eyes, please do not pass by your servant."
(Based on the commentary of Rashi)
