SF - Nobility of Spirit

Nobility of Spirit

Humility is often defined as "meekness." However, meekness is not a positive virtue because it stems from a lack of self-esteem.  True humility comes after a person attains personal excellence, integrity, and self-worth. His elevated deeds and thoughts set him apart from the ways of human nature. A person who is spiritually accomplished counters his ego with a good dose of humility.

Lesson: Humility is the nobility of spirit that results when the successful person consciously remembers his imperfections.

Visualization: Envision Moshe Rabenu leading Klal Yisrael out of Egypt after the Ten Plagues. See him take Klal Yisrael across the dry seabed during the miraculous splitting of the Red Sea. Imagine him ascending Mount Sinai and receiving the Torah from HaShem. Regardless of all of his incomparable achievements, reflect on the verse in which HaShem declares, "Moshe is the humblest man upon the earth."
