The Miracle of HaShem's Love for Klal Yisrael  Two miracles took place on Chanukah: a small group of Torah scholars defeated the mighty Greek army, and one small cruse of oil burned for eight days. Yet, why is it that the primary celebration of Chanukah centers on the miracle of the lights, and less on the military victory? The essence of serving HaShem is man's recognition of the Divine providence in our lives. Through the miracle of the oil lasting for eight days, we recognized that our Mitzvos are precious to HaShem. There is no greater joy than knowing that HaShem delights in the Mitzvos of Klal Yisrael. We were greatly encouraged by knowing that just as we cherish the Mitzvos, so too, our Mitzvos are precious to HaShem.  Lesson: The essence of serving HaShem is recognizing how closely HaShem oversees, protects, and blesses us every second of our lives.
