SF - HaShem's Unbounded Compassion for Klal Yisrael \ Parashat Ki Tisah

HaShem's Unbounded Compassion for Klal Yisrael \ Parashat Ki Tisah

D'var Torah:  "And I will show favour upon whom I favour, and I will show compassion upon whom I have compassion" (Shemot 33:19). After Klal Yisrael fell in the sin of the golden calf, Moshe Rabenu pleaded to HaShem for mercy on their behalf. HaShem responded,  "I will show favour upon whom I favour, and I will show compassion upon whom I have compassion." What secret did HaShem reveal in these gracious and merciful words? Even if Klal Yisrael is not spiritually worthy, HaShem has an unbounded reservoir of grace and mercy that He showers upon Klal Yisrael whenever they are in need of His favor. HaShem proclaims, "They have the merit of the Patriarchs, Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaacov. I swore to the Avot that I will always have mercy on their descendants. Even if they are undeserving, they will always find merit in My eyes because they are the progeny of the Avot, unto whom I swore. Therefore, I will guide them and lead them in mercy until they correct their misdeed."

Moral: In His infinite compassion for Klal Yisrael, HaShem created a "safety-net" so that Klal Yisrael will always endure, even if their behavior is completely unacceptable. HaShem made an oath to our holy Avot, that their merit will always stand to protect Klal Yisrael, and lead them back to goodness.

Application:  Reflect on the wonder that HaShem has unconditional love for Klal Yisrael because they are the descendants of Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaacov. Emulate HaShem and love every fellow Jew, even if they are not spiritually sound, because they are the descendants of the Avot.  Overlook their flaws and make a sincere effort to help them improve their ways.

The Salant Foundation is currently looking for a Shul or community to partner with us in sharing the merit of the unique and important Salant Kollel. There are practical and easy ways (such as adoptakollel.org) to create a special mutual relationship between the Kollel and a Shul or community.
If you think your
shul or community or even workplace might want to
participate in supporting the Salant Kollel, please
contact Rabbi Zvi Miller
at salantorg@gmail.com, and
we'll discuss how to go about implementing your idea. Thank you.
