"I sleep only on a bed of His love, and I shall awaken with the sweetness of His memory." (Chovos HaLavavot, Sha'ar Avodat HaElokim 5)
A man in love with a woman often finds it difficult to sleep at night because he is so consumed by thoughts of his beloved. How much more, then, should a person who loves Hashem awaken with sweet memories of his Creator! He will rise up with the strength of a lion at night to praise and delight in Hashem, and he will engage in the study of Torah.
As David HaMelech said, "I will arise at midnight to thank You" (Tehillim 119:62). He also declared, "I love You, Hashem" (Tehillim 18:2), and "He gives His beloved restful sleep" (Tehillim 127:2). This indicates that due to his passionate love for Hashem, he awakens from his sleep to learn Torah.
Today: Take a moment to reflect on the love a man has for a woman that keeps him awake at night. Transfer that feeling to your love for Hashem, who loves you intensely and unconditionally.
(Sefer Charedim 9:7)
Note: This week, we learned that Klal Yisrael suffered under Egyptian bondage as a result of speaking Lashon Hara. In today’s world, we are constantly exposed to social media and news broadcasts, where Lashon Hara is widespread. We would love to hear from our subscribers: What practical steps can we take to address and rectify this issue in our own lives and communities? Thank you for your valuable insights and support! |
