“On this day they arrived in the desert of Sinai” (Exodus 19:1) Rashi explains that the words of Torah should always feel as fresh and new to us as though they were given today. In other words, when you engage in Torah study, approach it with the same excitement and reverence as if Hashem Himself were transmitting the words directly to you, just as He did at Mount Sinai. Torah learning should feel like receiving love letters from Hashem, delivered with warmth and care. While pursuing other forms of wisdom leads to eventual disinterest, the Torah is unique. Even after studying a particular section hundreds of times, we continue to yearn for more because the Torah is infinite. It is constantly renewing itself and revealing new depths. This phenomenon itself is a testament to its Divine origin. Both the greatest Torah scholar and the child in cheder learn the same words, yet the Torah remains just as vibrant and newly given each day, no matter who is learning it.
