| I am Hashem, your G-d, Who took you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage." (Shemot 2:2)
Interestingly, the verse states, "Who took you," in the singular tense, similar to how it refers to individuals like Avraham, Shimon, Akiva, Rivka, Esther, Miriam, and others. This suggests that Hashem took each individual Israelite out of the house of bondage. Isn't it like saying that Hashem brought all of Klal Yisrael, comprised of individuals, out of Egypt? What deeper meaning might the Torah be hinting at?
The Torah conveys that Hashem would have taken each individual Israelite out of Egypt. In other words, if you were the only Israelite in Egypt, Hashem would have performed the miraculous Ten Plagues and the splitting of the Sea of Reeds just for you!
How valuable we all are in Hashem's eyes! There is no stronger boost to self-esteem than knowing that if you alone were the only Israelite in Egypt, Hashem would perform all the miracles of the Exodus for you alone!
Today: Envision yourself as the only Israelite enslaved in Egyptian bondage. Imagine Hashem performing the Ten Plagues and the splitting of the Sea of Reeds just for you! Recognize that every other Israelite holds the same value and self-esteem in Hashem’s eyes as you do.
