SF - The Spiritual Importance of Women

"So shall you say to the house of Yaakov and tell the sons of Yisrael" (Shemot 19:3).

Rashi cites the Talmud, which indicates that the "house of Yaakov" refers to women. Hashem commanded women to receive the Torah before men for two main reasons. First, women perform Mitzvot with greater eagerness and joy than men. Second, women send their husbands and children to learn Torah.

Women set their families' spiritual standards and tone by prioritizing Torah and its values. They are responsible for maintaining and preserving the sanctity of the home. They guard against harmful and negative influences from the outside. Their daily dedication and close involvement with their children and husbands instill important spiritual goals within the family.

Many people mistakenly assume that the Torah denigrates women and denies them equality. On the contrary, the Torah recognizes women's invaluable spiritual contributions to the family. They provide essential support and encouragement to their children and husbands. They model important character traits, such as kindness, patience, trust in Hashem, and love for others. As the verse says, "The wisdom of the women builds the house" (Mishlei 14:1).
