“Beloved is man, for he was created in the Image of HaShem. It is an even greater act of love that HaShem made it known to man that he was created in His Image.” (Pirkei Avot 3:14)
This teaching reveals a powerful truth: not only did HaShem create us in His Divine Image, but He also made us aware of it—so that we may live with dignity, purpose, and deep self-worth.
The more a person internalizes this idea, the more they recognize the value of life and the sacred potential within themselves. This awareness inspires a desire to elevate not only one’s actions, but one’s entire life experience. Among all of creation, HaShem chose to place a spark of His Divine essence specifically within humankind. We were granted no prior merit; we received this gift solely through HaShem’s infinite kindness. Even before we existed, He chose to bestow upon us a holy soul, formed in His likeness.
As we contemplate the boundless goodness of HaShem, we begin to understand the inherent worth and favor that He has placed within each of us. The more we grasp His love, the more we discover our own inner light.
The truest form of self-esteem comes from knowing that HaShem created us in His Image, and that He loves the very core of who we are.
Today: Take time to reflect on the words: “Beloved is man, for he was created in the Image of HaShem…” Meditate on the compassion and kindness of the Creator of heaven and earth. Rejoice in the knowledge that you were formed in His likeness, and that you are, at every moment, deeply beloved and infinitely precious in His eyes.
