| “And they (the angels) said to him (Avraham), ‘Where is Sarah, your wife?’ He answered, ‘She is in the tent.’” (Bereishis 18:9)
HaShem had already revealed to Avraham, in Parashas Lech Lecha, that he and Sarah would bear a son. If so, why did the angels need to repeat this message?
The Torah teaches that it was of great benefit for Sarah to hear the good news directly from the angels. When she heard their prophetic words—that she would give birth to a son—her heart was filled with joy and gratitude. These elevated emotions infused her being with holiness and vitality, fortifying her body and spirit to nurture new life.
When a woman’s heart radiates with true happiness, she creates within herself a sanctuary of blessing—a perfect environment in which her child can flourish, both spiritually and physically.
Yitzchak’s very name, meaning joy and laughter, reflects this truth. The joy that stirred in his mother’s heart gave rise to Yitzchak’s inner light, through which he illuminated the world with gladness and healing.
Today: When you pray to HaShem, let your heart rejoice in the knowledge that the Source of all goodness listens to your every word. Be uplifted and renewed by the awareness that HaShem loves you, purifies you, and grants you the supreme joy of standing before the holy Shechinah. (Based on the commentary of the Seforno.)
