The Secret of Self-Esteem
The Torah recognizes that every human being intuitively needs encouragment, affection, and recognition. In light of this, HaShem instructed Moshe Rabenu to take a census of Klal Yisrael by collecting a half-shekel coin from each person. Both the rich and the poor gave the same amount, no more and no less. The half-shekel standard demonstrated that every member of Klal Yisrael "counts" and is equally precious and beloved to HaShem!
Lesson: Just as a parent loves all of his children unconditionally, so too. HaShem openly reveals that each member of Klal Yisrael is equally beloved to Him.
Visualization: Envision yourself giving a half-shekel coin to Moshe Rabenu. See Moshe receive your coin with a warm smile of acceptance, honor, and love. Rejoice in knowing that HaShem recognizes the invaluable preciousness of your holy soul. He loves you as if you are His most precious child. Experience a deep sense of self-esteem, worthiness, and inner contentment. (Based on the Daruch Moshe of Rav Moshe Feinstein)
