The Key to Redemption
Once, Rabbi Yisrael Salanter's student approached him and said, "If I had the mind of a genius, the heart of a saint, and outstanding character traits -- then, I could become a great Rabbi."
Rabbi Yisrael responded, "With your mind, your heart, and your character traits you can become a great Rabbi!"
Rabbi Yisrael dedicated his life to encourage people to strive for personal excellence. To this end he launched the Mussar Movement, providing guidance, techniques, and wisdom on how to develop good and pleasant character traits.
He had tremendous impact on the world and his message resonates today just as clearly as it did one hundred and fifty years ago.

"There is no greater merit than strengthening others in Mussar." Rabbi Yisrael Salanter.
