King David praised the light of the sun, saying, "The heavens declare the glory of HaShem." He describes the sun's powerful light, its radiance, its perfect course, and its beauty. In the next verse King David says, "HaShem's Torah is perfect, restoring the soul." It is as if King David is saying: Don't be too amazed by the marvelous light of the sun. The Torah is even brighter, more encompassing, more eminent, more beneficial and exalted. Moreover, if not for the Jewish people, whom faithfully uphold the Torah, there would be no Torah in the world.
Lesson: The People of Israel are greater than the Torah, and the Torah is brighter than the sun. Therefore, the light of the People of Israel outshines the very sun.
App: Enrich yourself in the brilliant light of Torah and receive the love of HaShem that flows upon the Nation of Israel. Illuminate the world with HaShem's wisdom and goodness, as it says, "These are the People of HaShem."
