The Wisdom of Safeguarding our Spirituality
A man who possessed a precious diamond, also loved to drink wine. As much as he tried to control his drinking, he knew that his penchant could cause him to lose his diamond. In order to protect his diamond, he wisely placed his gem in the care of trusted friend. So too, when HaShem gave the Torah at Mount Sinai, Klal Yisrael recognized that they may not be worthy to receive the entire Torah directly from HaShem. Therefore, they asked Moshe to receive the Torah directly from HaShem and afterwards to teach them the Torah.
Lesson: When we acknowledge our spiritual vulnerabilities, we gain the wisdom to make the necessary precautions to preserve our souls.
App: Initiate a two tier strategy to strengthen your Torah study or any other Mitzvah. Firstly, make a commitment to study a particular Torah subject or do a specific Mitzvah. Secondly, schedule times in your calendar to help you fulfill your stated goals.
