The Ideal of Love \ Torah Wisdom D'var Torah: "Love your friend like you love yourself." (Vayikra 19:18) The verse expresses the wonderful Torah ideal to love others with the same love that we love ourselves. When we share our wisdom, friendship, and material possessions with others, we are following the holy way of loving-kindness. Even more, our love for our friends is so strong that we wish for them the same fullness of happiness, that we desire for ourselves. Moral: There are no boundaries in love. Just as we want the very best for ourselves, the Torah inspires us to want the very best for our friends. Application: Envision Avraham Avinu showering his love and kindness upon his fellow man. See how he loves each person as his brother. Be inspired to open your heart to love others just as you love yourself, and wish for them the very best.
