Purify Our Hearts
"Purify our hearts so that we can serve You in truth" (Shemoneh Esrei Prayer).
May HaShem guide us so that we have the wisdom, strength, and honesty to serve HaShem in truth.
Yet, our finite minds cannot grasp the infinite light, power, and sanctity of HaShem, Creator of heaven and earth.
As a result, we could become discouraged upon realizing how far we are from attaining a real understanding of HaShem, and upon acknowledging our inadequacies and flaws.
What can we do to balance ourselves so that we can remain happy, healthy, and strong?
The key is to detach ourselves from the past and look towards the future.
If we accept upon ourselves the Yoke of Heaven in the present and set our gaze into the future, we will be secure, uplifted, and energetic!
One of the Names of HaShem is "Eh-he'yeh." This Holy Name alludes to the future. Indeed the numerical value of "Eh-he'yeh" is the same as Emet or Truth.
By looking towards the future, we have the opportunity to "purify our hearts and serve HaShem in truth!"
