SF - Dovid HaMelech

"King David was elderly; he had lived many days, and they covered him with blankets, yet he was not warmed" (Melachim 1:1).

King David was renowned as a master of the Torah She'ba'al Peh (Oral Law). When he was elderly he reviewed his previous Torah studies, yet he did not generate any chidushim (new Torah concepts). Thus, even though he was fluent in Torah knowledge, his lack of engagement in chidushim meant he did not feel excited about his Torah learning.

Consequently, even though he was covered with blankets—representing his past Torah learning—he did not feel warm because he was not actively involved in the excitement of discovering new ideas.

This serves as a reminder that even when one is advanced in age, they can still be creative and innovative.

Today: Make it a goal to generate a new Torah concept every day!
