"These are the generations of Yaakov and Yosef" (Bereishit 37:2). This verse serves as a profound source of inspiration for the Jewish people. Over the millennia, we have faced countless hardships and tragedies. Consider the life of Yosef: beloved by his father Yaakov, yet betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery as a teenager. He was exiled to Egypt, wrongfully imprisoned in a dungeon, and subjected to immense suffering. Despite every setback, Yosef consistently rose to prominence, his resilience transforming adversity into strength. Eventually, through Divine providence, he ascended to the position of second-in-command in Egypt. The story of Yosef mirrors the journey of the Jewish people throughout history. Like Yosef, we have endured unparalleled suffering, particularly during our long exile. Yet, just as Yosef emerged from the depths of the Egyptian prison to become a leader, so too will the Jewish people rise to their destined role as a light unto the nations in the Messianic era.
