The Merit of Yehoshuah
On the day that Moshe appointed Joshuah to be his successor, the Sages lamented, "Woe to that shame, woe to that embarrassment."
Joshuah merited to lead Klal Yisrael because in his youth he volunteered to be Moshe's personal attendant. In addition, he straightened the benches in the Beis Midrash (study hall) and spread the floor mats. The Sages felt embarrassed to take on these tasks. However, now that Joshuah was appointed to lead Klal Yisrael, they said, "Woe to our embarrassment that stopped us from engaging in these worthy tasks. Woe to the shame today, that we lack the merit to lead Klal Yisrael."
Lesson: The honor that we give to our Rabbis and our dedication to keep the Beis Midrash in order, awakens great merit, blessing, and success for us and our families.
Visualization: Envision Joshuah, in his youth serving and honoring Moshe Rabenu. Imagine how much wisdom, holiness, and elevation he received, in return. See him arranging the benches and mats in the Beit Midrash. Be inspired to follow the good example of Joshuah and bring merit, blessing, and success to yourself and your family.
