The Miracle of the Beis HaMikdash
"Tell Beit Yisrael about the Beit HaMikdash." Yechezkal 43
The Beit HaMikdash, HaShem's dwelling place, was a microcosm of the universe. For example, the blue curtains represented the heavens, the wooden pillars represented the trees, and the lights of the Menorah represented the sun and moon. The inner sanctum - the Holy of Holies - represented the soul of man. This signifies that the human soul is supremely holy, just as the Holy of Holies was the spiritual core of the Beit HaMikdash. Despite the radiance of the soul, the material aspect of man obscures his inner light. Nevertheless, the powerful holiness of the Beis HaMikdash miraculously gave man a glimpse of his soul. The experience of communing with the Shechinah awakened new vistas of spiritual inspiration in the heart of man.
Lesson: The holiness of the Beit HaMikdash eternally resonates in the consciousness of Klal Yisrael. Spiritual impressions are ingrained in our psyche, even in the times when the Beit HaMikdash is not physically present. By meditating on the Beit HaMikdash we are able to stimulate these impressions and recall the experience of being in the presence of the Shechinah.
Visualization: Envision yourself entering the holy Beit HaMikdash. Imagine the Kohen Gadol officiating in the Holy of Holies. Sense the awe of being in the presence of HaShem. Experience the holiness of your soul, the joy of spirituality, and be inspired to serve HaShem.
