| “Quickly go up to my father and say to him, ‘Your son Yoseph says: HaShem has made me master of all Egypt’” (Bereishis 45:9).
Yaacov Avinu was a sage devoted entirely to spirituality. Why, then, did Yoseph emphasize his power in Egypt? Normally, a person would say, “The king appointed me.” Yet Yoseph did not say, “Pharaoh made me ruler.” He said, “HaShem made me master of all Egypt.”
After thirteen years of suffering—slavery and imprisonment—and then rising instantly from darkness to light, Yoseph’s faith remained perfect. His success did not change him. He saw his position not as personal achievement or royal favor, but as pure Divine Providence.
This was the message Yoseph wanted his father to hear. Nothing would give Yaacov Avinu greater joy than knowing that his son emerged from his trials with unwavering faith, still proclaiming, “HaShem made me master of all Egypt.”
Despite his wisdom and the honor he received, Yoseph took no credit for himself. He attributed all success and power to HaShem alone.
Today: Reflect on your day. Strengthen your faith by recognizing that HaShem is the source of all success. Take no credit for your accomplishments, and thank HaShem for the wisdom, strength, and opportunities He provides.
