SF - # Yoseph's Most Powerful Sentence

“And now, it was not you who sent me here, but HaShem; and He made me a father to Pharaoh, master of his entire household, and ruler over all the land of Egypt” (Bereishis 45:8).

Yoseph’s extraordinary ascent—from slave to ruler of Egypt—made one truth unmistakably clear: HaShem had orchestrated every step of his journey. What appeared to be a tragic descent was, in reality, the pathway to greatness. Yoseph’s life vividly embodied the principle, “Everything that HaShem does is for the good.”

For this reason, Yoseph told his brothers that they could take no credit for his success. Their intention in selling him was to diminish him, not to elevate him. Yet Yoseph went further: rather than reproach them, he comforted them. He reassured his brothers that the favorable outcome itself revealed their righteousness, echoing the teaching of our Sages: “A good outcome is brought about through a meritorious person.” If HaShem allowed such blessing to emerge, it meant that they were worthy vessels—even if they themselves did not yet see it.

Yoseph exemplified the highest level of goodness by transforming his brothers’ intent to harm him into the very cause of his success.

Today: Picture Yoseph standing before his brothers and choosing compassion over rebuke. Instead of blame, he reassures them that their actions were part of HaShem’s plan for salvation and greatness. Feel their relief as guilt melts away. When you face pain or conflict, look for HaShem’s guiding hand—and the good that can emerge in both events and relationships.
