| “And they said to Yoseph, ‘We dreamt a dream, but there is no interpreter for it.’ Yoseph said to them, ‘Do not interpretations belong to HaShem? Tell me your dream, if you please.’”
HaShem’s method of healing differs profoundly from the ways of man. A physician heals by opposite means—he cuts with a scalpel, then repairs with bandages and medicine. But HaShem heals with the very force that caused the wound.
Yoseph suffered because he spoke boastfully about his dreams to his brothers, yet HaShem ultimately saved him through dreams—the dreams of Pharaoh’s cupbearer and baker. This follows the principle expressed in the verse: “A time of trouble for Yaacov, yet from the very trouble will his salvation sprout.” (Jeremiah 30:7) Amazingly, the healing power of HaShem is embedded within the very hardships He sends us.
Recognizing that our challenges contain the precise spiritual remedy we need is the key to inner peace. Even when difficulties feel bitter, we can endure them with calm and clarity, knowing that they deliver HaShem’s healing directly into our soul.
Imagine Yoseph standing before his brothers, recounting his dreams that they would one day bow to him. Soon afterward, terrible hardships descend upon him. Sold into slavery, exiled, and imprisoned—yet Yoseph never lets go of his trust in HaShem. He endures because he knows that within his suffering lies HaShem’s hidden medicine.
Today: Strengthen your trust that every hardship HaShem sends carries within it the perfect remedy for your soul’s growth and elevation. (Based on Midrash Tanchuma and the teachings of the Ba’al Shem Tov.)
