The journey is beautiful

“Because you did not serve HaShem, your G-d, with happiness…” (Devarim 28:47) If one is fulfilling the Mitzvot, why does it matter whether he serves HaShem with joy? Consider: a person who already owns a beautiful home may begin building a second house, but since nothing compels him, the project drags on. By contrast, someone without a home throws himself into construction with all his strength until it is complete. Similarly, if a person does not reflect on the incomparable delight that HaShem grants for each Mitzvah, their service will be lukewarm. But one who recognizes the boundless reward of every Mitzvah pursues them with joy, energy, and devotion. The foundation of serving HaShem is to reflect on the blessings, beauty, and eternal sweetness gained with every Mitzvah—both in this world and in the World to Come. Today: Envision the joy that filled King David with every Mitzvah. Bring that same joy into your own heart and soul. Visualize the light of Gan Eden shining upon you with each Mitzvah. Perform Mitzvot with happiness, vitality, and passion. Reap supreme blessing and reward in this world and for eternity.
